Hawick Community Raises Over £6,400 in Memory of Phil Nichol

NHS Borders Health Charity would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the family and friends of Phil Nichol, along with his local rugby club, Hawick Harlequins RFC, for raising an incredible £6,422 in support of the Dialysis Unit following Phil's passing.

Wanting to give something back to the unit that cared for Phil, those closest to him came together and organised a variety of fundraising activities in his memory. Alongside a collection held at his funeral, more than 30 supporters took part in a challenging 20-mile walk around the Roberton Rideout during the Hawick Common Riding celebrations.

Donations also flowed in through a JustGiving page, collections at Common Riding events, and the generosity of supporters, visiting clubs and local organisations. The community's response was truly remarkable, reflecting the high regard in which Phil was held by so many.

With plenty of sing-songs, shared stories and community spirit along the way, supporters raised an outstanding total that will make a lasting difference for patients receiving dialysis treatment. The funds will help provide specialist chairs for the Dialysis Unit, improving comfort and enhancing the experience of patients during treatment.
