Did you know that porters at Borders General Hospital cover an average of 25,000 steps during a shift as they transport patients, move equipment and help keep our hospital running? That's around 12 miles in a single day!
Porters are the quiet force behind our hospital, helping patients, staff, equipment and vital supplies get to where they need to be, every single day. To celebrate their incredible contribution and raise funds for NHS Borders Health Charity, we're challenging you to Outpace a Porter by matching their distance and covering 25,000 steps or 12 miles in one day.
Whether you walk, wheel, run or cycle, take on the challenge and discover just how much ground our porters cover while keeping the hospital moving.
